Let us take a journey into the land of focal lengths, apertures, Ansel Adams, and My Giant. Yes, the world of photography can offer limitless opportunity to the ambitious mind, that is limited only by his or her creativity. As usual, the HOBOs have squandered this chance, in favor of capturing pictures of each other in unflattering, drunken, partially-nude, foolhardy, and sometimes inappropriate situations. This week I would like to discuss some topics pertaining to HOBOs and photographs.

First off, I hope everyone has gotten a chance to see the HOBO picture slideshow that Jaybles put together. I can’t say enough good things about the job he did on it. The music, the transitions, the picture changes to the beat, and the picture/music coordination were all spot on. He deserves a big “Whoa HOBO” for taking the initiative to make something creative out of our vast reservoir of photos and his almost OCD-like dedication to finish it in a single 8-hour session. It’s no wonder that the Queen refers to JVatts as the most enthusiastic HOBO.

Vizzle, in creating his slideshow, got me thinking about our Flickr site and the over 1,000 photos that it houses. While it’s great that we finally have a place to collect all of our crazy pics, the 60+ pages of the site do not make it particularly easy to browse through them. Don’t get me wrong, I love all the photos that are on there and I hope everyone will continue to upload the photos that they have in their collection. In my spare time I, myself, have been trying to upload all the old pictures that I have on my computer for everyone’s viewing pleasure. This is the genius of Vatto’s slideshow, it provides a creative, and much more enjoyable way to peruse the HOBO images. If anyone else has a clever idea to make use of all of our photographs, I strongly encourage them to follow his example. Once again, hats off to you Viz.

To continue on the photograph theme, I really like Monster’s idea about getting shots of people wearing the HOBO shirts out in public. Does anyone still have a Gregapalooza or Inebriation Celebration t-shirt? I think the best shot of someone wearing the HOBO shirt out in public should deserve a prize. For that matter any shot of a shameless plug for hoboswalk.com, out in public, should get a reward. After all, advertising makes the world go round.

Let’s all continue to collect our pictures in a central location, and upload them to the Flickr site. New ones, old ones, hopefully not ones of Farva is various stages of undress, let’s put them up there. If you need help on how to upload the pictures, please refer to the Showstoppa’s post from a few months ago and email either me or him for the login and password.

Comments on the pictures are also appreciated. We currently have over 6,000 views of our photos, but only a handful of comments. Let us know what you think, we want to hear it!

Get those photos ready, it's time to submit them for judging. We all know that the Black Team is going to dominate just like they did all 4th of July, but we have to tally up the points to see how bad of a Black victory it was.

So here's what you have to do:

1. Resize your pictures to 1024x768 resolution or at least close. If they are smaller than that coming off of your camera just leave them how they are.

2. Email me at showstoppa [at] hoboswalk [dot] com or IM me (AIM - Dusty50F, MSN - mopp50[at]hotmail[dot]com, Yahoo - dustmopp) for the password to the Flickr account.

3. Point your browsers over to www.flickr.com and log in with a Yahoo account as hoboswalk and use the password which I gave you.

4. Click "Upload Photos" to upload or go to Tools and download the Flickr Uploadr to upload alot at once.

5. When you are uploading put some Tags in for the images. Put "HOBO", "hoboswalk", "fourth2006", and your name or nickname, and any other descriptive Tags that you would like.

6. After uploading make sure to put in titles and descriptions for all of your photos. Be creative. In the description also add your name. If you look at mine I have it say "-by Showstoppa". If it's for the photo scavenger hunt put add that in there like this "+Rocko".

7. Go to "Organize" and "Your Sets" and click "Create New Set" on the top right hand side. Title it your name or nickname. Add all of your photos to this set. You can control-click to select multiple photos to move.

8. Add every photo for the scavenger hunt to either the "Black Team" or "Red Team" Set. Add any miscellaneous photos not for the Scavenger Hunt to the "Misc. 4th Folder" set. You can control-click the photos to select multiple ones to move.

Please add any HOBO related or fun photo from the 4th that you took. Also, make sure you add all photos that were taken for the scavenger hunt to the team folder even if one of that item is already in there. Me and Gregas will sort them out later. That should be it. Just contact me if you have any questions or if you can't get them in sets or something. I should be able to work it out for you.
