It is getting closer to the time of year when the HOBOs 4th of July schedule is announced. Wilman left a comment about some of the games which should be played and one of them was bean bag toss, or cornhole. It got me thinking. I am making a custom set of boards for the game and I know that one board will have the HOBO Sports logo on it. You know, that world famous one with Sloppy Bloobs on it, but the other board, I have no clue what to put on it. I have a general idea of what I would like to put on it, but I don't want my idea to be the only option. I will be getting the complete set of primed boards within the next 2 weeks.
So I am going to leave it to you, HOBO Nation, to give me ideas what to paint on the other board. Please keep in mind that I hand paint each board and with buying the paint, masking it, then painting it, it takes me a while to complete these things. Make your comments count! I can gather all the ideas, then put them in a poll and see what you like.

Again this year for the 4th of July, we will be holding a poker run. We will be doing a little different spin on it. We will have the $100 drawing on the 29th, 30th, 1st, and the 2nd at midnight. On the 3rd, the drawing will be at 10 pm. After the 10 pm drawing on the 3rd, we will invite all the previous winners back for a grand finale drawing. The amount to be determined by the amount of money we obtain from all involved.
The cost for each establishment will be $50.
This year we are not just including the bars, but including each and every business that wishes to be involved. This seemed to work well when we did it for the Sled Fest, and I heard a lot of good feedback. Many businesses other than the bars can benifit, and I am encouraging all to participate. The final stop has yet to be determined. This will be a 100% payback, and another fun event to be involved in.
I need to know your answer by Wednesday in order to get in published in the 4th of July brochure.

The fact that businesses in addition to bars is a little concerning, but the event we should be gearing toward is the grand final drawing.

In the spirit of the HOBO Fit Club, is anyone interested in training for the 4th of July Hometown Run? I noticed that at least a few people wanted to add some cardio/running to their fitness goals and this would be a great incentive. It's always easier to keep to the plan when there's something to shoot for!
The Hometown Run has 10K (6.2 miles) and 2 Mile divisions and it's usually the morning after the Half Year's party, early enough in the 4th of July festivities that you can pace yourself for one night, run the race, and then go nuts the rest of the week. Last year I went out, drank a few, got up in the morning, ran the race, and let me tell you that the Miller Lite and chicken wings afterwards tasted damn good!
If enough people are in, we could even start the race as a team/group with silly T-shirts or hats or something to identify us as HOBOs. Both runs start at the same spot/same time, and those who finish first can be at the finish to cheer on the rest of the group. It'd be fun :)
