Brewers Opening Weekend

I have purchased the tickets for opening weekend on sat and sun. As we bought these quite a bit ahead of time I had to put them all on my credit card. I would appreciate it if I could get a check from those of you purchased tickets ahead of time. I don't want to have to wait until the game to pay off my bill. Brewers Opening weekend

Gregas and I are looking at hitting up the Brewers opening weekend on April 5th and 6th (sat and sun.) Tickets will be $36 and both games are early afternoon start times. Sunday the 6th is also Prince bobble head day. If you are interested in tickets let Gregas or myself know by tues afternoon 2/25. We would like to get these as they are hot,hot,hot.

HOBOWL '07

As Commish I have assumed the duty of organizing the Hobowl. Gmac and I have discussed various options for the game. Last year we had 18 people, which proved to be somewhat overcrowded on the field. We're estimating about 20 people showing up once again. This leaves us with 2 options, play the same as last year...or option #2:

Assign 4 captains before the Hobowl. These captains will be people that are attending the game w/o a doubt. These captains will then draft on the day of the Hobowl from the available athletes. The captains can assemble their own playbook/strategy for their team to prepare for the game.

We assemble 4 teams of 5 players each (or adjust for how many show up)

We will then have a Hobowl playoff with 2 games going on at the same time. The winners and losers will then play each other.

I would like to get everyone's thoughts on this. Gmac and I came up with the format, so if you have any questions or comments let it fly now.

We will be playing flag football again, as everyone seemed to be in favor of that. Bob, if you can get the flags again...that'd be great.
Remember, whoever holds the jug....bring it to the Hobowl. More details to come.....

2007 HOBO Fantasy Football Preview

DIVISION
Smalls

Jizzman Naught (Peach)
Keepers: T. Jones, Gore, Palmer
Few things in fantasy football are more enjoyable than beating the Jizzman, but the Evil Empire has not been an easy opponent the last couple yrs. Why is this you ask…well the Peach spends countless hours going over numbers and devotes a good portion of his life to fantasy sports. The Jizzman is coming off a 4th place finish last season and is 1 of only 2 teams (Erwin being the other) that has finished in the top 4 in both years of the HFFL. This season jizzman brings back a strong keeper class headed by Gore and Palmer. Gore’s injury history has to scare a little, but Betts on the bench should provide some insurance. There is little doubt the Jizzman put quite a few cans of chew into researching this yrs fantasy sleepers….did he find on in Santonio Holmes? Will jon Kitna contribute to a QB controvery and put up 5k yds? Will Sanatana Moss’s hamstring fall off? The Jizzman thinks he knows….do you?

Omaha Reacharounds (Shankbone)
Keepers: McNabb, Willis, Reggie
TJE comes into the season with a lot of hope after making the playoffs last season. Hope that Donovan’s knee is healthy and that he quits getting injured like the Giant at the kickball classic and actually makes it through a whole season. Hope that Reggie Bush turns into the stud he’s expected to be. Hope that McGahee can improve on that 2 YPC that he’s been avg in the preseason. And hope that Shockey’s production on the field finally matches his mouth off it. I hope Tim focuses on his mustache this fall….because that’s the only competition he’ll be winning. No playoffs…but maybe a winning record.

Booby-Hatch Bathroom Banger (Farva)
Keepers: Brees, Rudi, LJ
The Bangers are looking to avenge last yrs 2nd place finish. Farva can only hope that Drew Brees spent more time working out this offseason than worrying about some unemployed Katrina refugees. Larry Johnson’s 400+ carries last season seem to predict a fall for him, but I’m going to pencil him in for another big year. Solid RB’s, solid WR’s and a good QB…I’m predicting more action for this Bathroom Banger and a good fantasy finish too!

Waiver Warriors of SSM (Vizzle)
Keepers: Ronnie, Norwood, Colston
Well he couldn’t have been more wrong about Ced Benson’s situation in Chi, Vatts is hoping he’s right about his team’s potential. Things really need to break right for SSM to be in contention. Ronnie Brown has to show up this yr for a bad Miami team. Leinart needs to quit hooking up like HOBOs on the 4th of July and keep growing as a QB. Was Colston’s season a fluke, or is he really a top WR? Vatts has the depth at WR to try some different options….but will any of them work? (I’d like to throw in a special thanks here from Team Erwin…Vatts’ mismanagement allowed me to get into the playoffs and win the title…thanks again!)Too many questions this yr is the verdict…losing record.

Smooth PlasterDrunks (Turdbisket)
Keepers: Brady, Maroney, R. Williams
Luke is looking to finally break .500 in the HFFL. Could this finally be the year. Brady is looking for a big season with some new WR’s, and Roy Williams is poised to have a big year for Martz. While Adrian Peterson should be a solid keeper pick for years…this year he could be splitting a lot of time. Kevin Jones is basically Fred Taylor north…he’s hurt more than….well…me I guess. WR seems to be a little weak after Roy, Brandon Marshall did have 2 or 3 catches last yr. I think Luke will hover around .500 and not break that ceiling.

Quahog's Finest (Double J)
Keepers: Edge, Reggie Wayne,
JJ is looking to rebound from a piss poor 3-9 season. His only highlight was beating Erwin for his first win. He decided to give up his 3rd keeper and draft Deuce instead, a wise decision…at least he didn’t keep Jason Whitten again. Portis sounds like he has a bum knee, and much like your favorite writer, is always nursing injuries. Tendonitis sucks…take it from me and Clinton has it. I’m not a huge fan of Vince, but he proved me wrong last yr. If he can keep it going JJ has a shot to make some noise. Is Deuce going to get as many touches with Reggie there? I think JJ will hang around this year and have a chance to get a winning record.

DIVISION
Bigs

Erwin Indians (T)
Keepers: T.O. L.T. M-JD
Fantasy dynasty Erwin looks to continue their run….finishing in the top 4 both seasons and defending their championship. Erwin was left for dead last season, but due to some lucky breaks made the playoffs. This season they add Bulger and a 4 backup RB’s to the roster. T.O. has been dropping more balls than Chris Ormes at the Hobowl and if he gets any slower Tim Ormes will catch him in the 40. MJ-D is probably a fluke and the selection of backup Chester Taylor was a draft mistake made by an inept front office. BUT…we’ve still got LT….and THAT makes Erwin a favorite.

Vooks Spooks (Vook)
Keepers: none
Vook is looking to reverse some terrible luck….being beat out of the playoffs by tiebreakers for the first 2 yrs of the HFFL. He went with the unorthodox strategy of keeping no one! I think Vook and the Texans have a lot in common…that passing on Reggie Bush could have been a huge mistake. He was able to select 2 outstanding WRs and a solid QB. But fantasy football is built on RBs. If Jacobs and Barber end up being featured backs the Spooks could be a force…and they have Jason Whitten! I don’t think the Vook has enough at RB…he won’t have to worry about losing a tie-breaker this year, he won’t be that close.

Dumpbear's Revenge (G-Mac)
Keepers: Shaun, Addai, Henry
Dump rebounded from the Alexander injury to finish 6-6 last year. Barring injury he should have another solid season. Keeping 3 Rb’s instead of Chad could be considered somewhat controversial, but can you ever have too many good Rbs? Gates needs to come up big to justify his draft position…I think Gregas is on his way to the playoffs. Rest up that back G-mac, you’ll be carrying this team pretty far.

Team Kinnunen (Jonesy)
Keepers: Peyton, Brian, Ahman
Ormes is trying to kick the rep for being the WORST team in HFFL after 11th place finishes in the last 2 seasons. Can anyone say “contraction?” Is that the real reason Ormes is anti-social? We’ll never know, as after Westbrook and Manning this team is weaker than Tim’s bench press. Ahman green has more miles on him than Vatts has on his cell phone keypad. Looks like we’ll have to go another 6 months w/o hearing from Ormes.

East End Gamblers (Bibbles)
Keepers: Jackson, Randy, Smith
The Bruce got a solid RB with future potential in Marshawn to team with S-Jax forming a great tandem. Moss is expected to have a renaissance in NE and Steve Smith’s only knock is his ability to stay healthy. I think Bob will have a solid season…but will it be enough to get to the playoffs? I sure hope so, cause we know Bob will throw the best party and get sloppy drunk.

Bessemer VFW (Showstoppa)
Keepers: Ced, Anquan, Willie
The V finished dead last, last season…and his ’05 finish looked better than it actually was….4-8, 5-8…its been more of a nightmare than a fantasy for Show. Changes had to be made….Show mooched Ced Benson last year and turned him into a keeper. Can Ced keep the starting job in Chi? If he does, Show comes off looking like a genius. Phil Rivers leaves Erwin and comes to the V….he was came in and helped lead Erwin to the championship last yr. Torry Holt’s bum knee could be a concern all season. Dunn and Jordan should provide some insurance at RB….or at least provide Show with the ability to offer some shady trades.

I look forward to every shady trade proposal, bitching about the money, arguing about Cedric Benson, offending Jizzman’s pride by not picking his team for the playoffs, and just being in a league with a bunch of guys I love…cause we don’t play for the money, we play cause we love each other and for fun!!
